My husband owns a business corporation. Can he be sued personally when the matter happened at the business?

My ex had a restaurant business under a corporation. He's being sued when one of the workers allowed a regular to use the big screen to watch a show via satellite. He normally worked and stayed in the kitchen and had no idea. Now he's being sued personally. The business is now closed, the building is foreclosed, he's now on welfare. he has no way for paying for an attorney or consultation of any kind. We explained to the represented lawyer both on the phone and in writing. Now the case is filed, but he doesn't know what to do, his English is limited. Can he also sue back because the lawfirm sent private investigators into the business and represented themselves as Federal Officer (Sheriff)?
